SportSpired Games is an international game studio developing next-generation sports simulators. Our team includes professionals with experience at Wargaming, MY·GAMES, The Walt Disney Company, Ubisoft, 343 Industries, Starbreeze, Sperasoft and EA Sports. We’re building an ambitious AAA title slated for release in 2028-2029.
Responsibilities
- Work with programmers and designers to create realistic and believable AI balance that matches the specifics of a sports simulator.
- Maintaining and updating balance tables that are responsible for synchronizing the behavior of key elements of the sports simulator.
- Continuously testing AI balance and making improvements based on analytics, independent analysis of gameplay, and feedback from the team and testers.
- Performing balance iterations when mechanics change and to handle corner cases.
- Interacting with programmers and other GDs to ensure AI balance is consistent with the visual and technical implementation of the game.
- Participating in the development of strategies to improve the overall gameplay through AI tuning and optimization.
- Creating and maintaining design documentation that reflects the key points of AI balance and all the tools needed to test it.
- Present ideas and concepts to management and other stakeholders, justifying your design decisions.
- Create and maintain documentation on the tools needed to develop AI balance.
- Develop tools in collaboration with programmers to create a flexible and user-friendly toolkit.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a game designer, especially for PC and consoles.
- Strong knowledge and skills in working with the Unreal Engine.
- 2+ years of experience as a game designer with a focus on balance and tuning for competitive games.
- Experience creating complex balance systems from scratch and the ability to form balance theses.
- Skills in developing combinatorics of content used by players.
- Experience balancing complex systems that work with timing and space.
Nice to have
- Understanding of the tactical aspects of sports simulators, including team behavior, coordination, and strategic actions.
- Ability to design and implement complex AI behavior models that control actors on both the user and opponent sides.
- Knowledge and experience with AI state systems, navigation, strategy, and tactical modeling.
